Acid Reflux is when the acid gets back up to the esophagus. your esophagus is the tube that lies between the mouth & stomach, it is responsible for pushing the food downwards. Stomach acids are made to dissolve the food that we eat & it is so strong however our stomach lining is made in a way so that it is protected & cant be affected by the acid. In the case of heartburn, the stomach acid goes up to the esophagus causing a burning sensation in the chest or the throat. It is normal & harmless to experience acid reflux from time to time but when you regularly experience it, it causes a burning in the esophagus, these people are diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) which is a digestive disorder.

Here are some of the home remedies that might work with heartburn

Bananas



Bananas contain natural antacid, it is a low acid fruit. Eating a banana each day will help so much with heartburn.

Aloe vera juice



Aloe vera has a soothing effect on the stomach, so it can soothe the irritation that happened from the acid reflux. consider taking 1/2 a cup of aloe vera juice before meals to soothe your esophagus before eating.

Chamomile Tea  



Chamomile has anti-inflammatory, relaxing properties which helps so much with balancing the acidity levels in the stomach. consider taking a cup of chamomile tea before bedtime it will be very useful.

Baking soda



Baking soda dissolved in water reduces the acidity in the stomach. It works as a natural antacid. consider taking a teaspoon dissolved in water when acidity hits.

Apple cider vinegar



Apple cider vinegar eases heartburn as it contains enzymes that help with digesting and breaking down the food. It has an alkalizing effect that balances the Ph level in the body. Consider mixing a teaspoon of unpasteurized organic apple cider vinegar in a cup of water.

Chewing Gum



Chewing gum (non-sugar) after meals by half an hour reduces the acidity levels in the stomach as it stimulates the salivary glands by increasing the saliva.

Ginger Tea



Ginger tea is a remedy for all digestive problems including acid reflux. It has anti-inflammatory & soothing property which decrease the acidity levels in the stomach.

Fennel



Fennel is a low acid food, it helps in soothing & relaxing the stomach which in return relieves the burning sensation that happens from GERD.
